Terms of Service

By continuing to use the website, you agree to our Terms of Service as outlined below. Violating any of the Terms of Service may cause you to lose communication privileges, or lead to the immediate closure of your account.

Please keep in mind that most disagreements should be handled personally among the involved parties and should not be brought to a moderator. It is not the job of moderators to arbitrate interpersonal conflicts. Do not send a ticket unless one of the rules below has been unambiguously broken.

If you feel you have grounds to bring a matter of interpersonal conflict to a moderator, please specify which rule you believe has been broken.

Digest

  1. No hateful, sexually explicit or gross material on the website or Discord server.
  2. Don't harass, stalk, hurt, provoke, or doxx users. Don't post material that might cause a user to receive such treatment.
  3. Don't discuss political figures or promote political ideologies.
  4. No publicly available block lists.
  5. If a user has blocked you, don't get around it by contacting them on our Discord server, logging out, making new accounts, etc.
  6. Don't create multiple accounts, exploit site features or bugs, or use scripts that send requests too rapidly.
  7. Don't scam people (offer things in exchange for currency/items and not deliver after being paid).
  8. Don't post spam.
  9. Don't upload any material that might attract copyright strikes and give credit where due.
  10. Don't post AI-generated material.

Content filtering: We have minors on this website; content may be filtered or removed based on keeping it safe for them.

Usage rights: You can use official images, Chickrew images, and images of your chickens anywhere without permission. Transferred chickens have the rights transferred with them to the new owner.

Refunds: You can request a refund for bugs and mistakes that resulted in losing 500 eggs or more.

Chicken release: Releasing a chicken immediately after buying it is not an offence.

Account closure: You will be warned when you commit a bannable offence. On repeat offence, you will get a notice of account closure. Your account will close 7 days later.

These "digest" versions of the rules are not enforceable; they are only to be used as reference for the full rules below.
  1. Hateful, violent, sexually-explicit, and unsanitary or otherwise viscerally upsetting material are strictly prohibited on this website.
    1. "Hateful material" refers to any material that espouses hateful or extremist rhetoric against specific members or groups of society, or uses terms that may be considered slurs against members of certain communities.
    2. "Violent material" refers to any material depicting graphic injury or inciting violence against real people.
    3. "Sexually-explicit material" refers to any solicitations of sexual interactions, and any material depicting sexual acts and/or visible genitalia.
    4. "Unsanitary or otherwise viscerally upsetting material" refers to any material relating to subjects likely to cause visceral disgust, including (but not limited to) excessive detailing of bodily fluids, internal organs, and bodily harm.
  2. Other than the above, posting material intended to harm, offend, or provoke conflict, and revealing the personal details of others against their will, are strictly not allowed on this site. This includes situations when the user's name is not explicitly mentioned, but enough details are included to create the perception of being about specific individuals. Do not continue to engage in harassment or other unwanted behaviour after being asked to cease.
  3. Do not reference political figures or promote political ideologies on this website. Human rights do not count as political and can be discussed.
  4. Publicly available block lists are not allowed. Block lists are lists of at least one user, intended to be a source of reference for other users to block. Block lists that are made publicly available will be treated as harassment and their creators will be warned, then banned on repeat offence. If the reason for the block list's existence is that the users are breaking rules, file a ticket about the specified users and these cases will be handled as a moderation task.
  5. Block evasion (the creation of new accounts, logging out to view the profile of a user who has blocked you, or contacting them through the website's server) is prohibited.
  6. Exploitative use of site functions (whether intended features or bugs) that creates an unfair advantage over other players is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Using applications and extensions that make a disproportionate number of requests to this website in a short amount of time to scrape data from the website, automate batch actions, and other reasons not listed here. Click here to read about our rules governing userscripts and extensions.
    2. Creating multiple alternate accounts as a single person, or using someone else's identity to open an alternate account.
    3. Exploiting site functions or bugs for infinite item uses or currency.
  7. Scams, or sharing misleading information/advertisements that result in unintentional loss of real or ingame items or currency, or theft of personal or account details, are strictly not permitted and will result in an immediate closure of your account once verified.
  8. Spamming—posting or surfacing unwanted material on others' profiles, or the same material repeatedly an excessive number of times—is not allowed and may result in a communication mute or the closure of your account, if verified. This does not apply to use of the Bump button (which it was designed for), but it does apply to reposting Wall of Fame features repeatedly with the same content.
  9. Do not upload material that you do not have the rights to use, whether as text or visuals, except where it falls under fair use. This includes any material that might result in copyright claims being made on this website. Give credit where it is due.
  10. Do not publish works that were created primarily with generative AI (such as writing, images, and code) on the website or server. "Generative AI" refers to deep learning models such as large language models (ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, etc.) and image generator models (DALL•E, Midjourney, etc.). This list is not exhaustive.

If you believe someone has broken any of the above rules, send us a ticket and a moderator will attend to it.

Content filtering policy

This website is officially open to players 13 years of age and older. The age restriction allows our automatic profanity filter to be tuned to catch only words that constitute infractions of our ToS (see below). However, members are asked to keep in mind that they may be sharing the website with minors and act appropriately with that knowledge.

We apply an automatic profanity filter on words in our ban list. This list includes words that break our Terms of Service by default, as well as other selected terms that have been deemed inappropriate for the website at the developer's discretion. Using a word in the ban list is not an offence in itself, but moderators are notified when such a word is used in a public post.

Nevertheless, some words that aren't caught by our filter may still be inappropriate to a general audience, and players are asked to exercise their own discretion in how they interact with others on the website.

Usage rights

All canonical (non-user-generated) text and images on this website are licenced under a CC-BY licence. In other words, you are free to share, remix and transform any assets found on this site created by the developer (in their final form), or assets generated by you. This includes:

Credit to ChickenPet (https://chicken.pet) is preferred, but will not be enforced.

This choice is meant to signify the spirit of sharing envisioned for this website. Go wild—make merchandise featuring your chickens. Take cash commissions for chicken art. Make a commercially-available game that features chickens you made with Chickrew. Other than attribution, the developer reserves no rights over the use of site assets and your own chickens' images, and you are welcome to use them in any way you like.

However, individual chickens and user-generated material (where "user-generated" includes generation through breeding and/or randomisation) that don't belong to you are subject to the respective creators'/owners' usage preferences and are not covered by this licence. Seek permission from owners individually to use their chickens' images, since the chickens may be considered their own "designs," or so to speak.

Refund policy

Bugs resulting in the loss of items may occur. If this happens to you, we are more than happy to address the issue and return any lost items, or to offer the equivalent value in egg currency where they cannot be recovered. Simply submit a ticket and we will attend to it as soon as possible.

If you purchase the wrong item or use a single-use item incorrectly by accident, and the total egg value of expended items/eggs exceeds 500 eggs, you may request a refund and/or for the effects to be reverted (e.g. using several modulators in the wrong direction, or buying several of the wrong type of splicer). File a "Refund request" ticket. This covers only accidents and mistakes, and does not include change-of-mind requests.

Release / Pullet release issues

A chicken no longer belongs to you once it leaves your ownership, and you have no control over it. Players who release a recently bought chicken have broken no rules. User reports relating to such behaviour will not be actioned unless an existing rule was broken at the same time, nor can the chicken be restored. Only sell a chicken on the Farmhouse if you are comfortable with this risk; otherwise you can use the trade system to sell the chicken to someone you trust to attend to your preferences.

Although this behaviour is generally common and widely accepted in other websites, we recognise that some new players may not be expecting this to happen, and may be unpleasantly surprised when it does. An alert has been placed on the Farmhouse listing creation page to inform these players of the possibility.

You may also write a listing message noting if you have preferences about how the chicken is used after purchase. However, remember that this measure has only one function: to potentially allow buyers to self-filter which listings they would like to buy. This is at their own discretion. There is no guarantee that this request will be followed, and the site will not enforce these requests. Harassing users for not keeping to your preferences still counts as harassment.

Process for account closure

In some cases (but not always), you will be warned the first time you commit a bannable offence.

If you are found to have broken that rule again after warning, or if the infraction is immediately bannable (e.g. multiple accounts owned by the same users), you will be issued with a notice that your account will be closed. Once you are issued with that notice, closure is non-negotiable.

This notice will include a grace period of 7 days to back up your data. After 7 days, your account will be closed.

Other notes

This website is owned by Circlejourney (sole trader business registered under ABN 83110809957). As its sole employee, all revenue is paid directly to the developer after any withheld tax.
