Topper nearly knocks over a doughnut tower turning to greet you. "Eggy! I was hoping you’d show up. There’s jelly-filleds, sprinkle-tops, and something called ‘cloud-glazed’? I took two of each just to be safe."

EGGY: "Cloud-glazed? Is that even a flavor?"

TOPPER: "Only emotionally. Try it, it’s like eating a nap." They hand you a frosted puff that seems to shimmer faintly.

[Talk doughnuts]

You take a bite. It tastes like sugar and fog and possibly the color blue.

EGGY: "Okay that’s weirdly good."

TOPPER: "Right? It tastes like a feeling you forgot. This party has excellent snacks."

TOPPER: "Earlier I saw a cirrus swirl shaped like a chicken doing parkour. I named it Greg."

EGGY: "You always name the clouds?"

TOPPER: "Only the cool ones. There was a grumpy-looking one I called Brenda. Total vibe-killer."

You both laugh, but Topper’s gaze drifts toward the edge of the party.

EGGY: "What is it?"

TOPPER: "Not sure. That streamer’s been... flickering weird. And I think I saw someone duck behind it."

They look back at you. "Wanna come check it out?"
