marsh is over 120 million years old, being originally born as a sinosauropteryx. most immortals woukd get bored after 100, or even 1000, but marsh has been here since the early cretaceous. theyve lived a hundred thousand lifetimes, millions of lifetimes, over and over and over.

so when humans started developing, they were excited.

they did everything they could possibly think to do. they watched tribal battles between early hominid species. they tried the beer at sites like gobekli tepe. they learned mummification from the ancient egyptians. they were at the 1893 chicago world fair with edison. they have seen nations rise and fall, and noneso more than when the 2000s hit.

now, marsh had developed a sort of taste for luxury by now, and theyd lived long enough to know how to get what they wanted. however, they sort of... eh... squandered it. they did bad things. a lot of bad things. bad things theyve never done before, because there was no technology to do it that way before.

unfortunately, it started to catch up to them. they did time, being in and out of prisons for as long as prisons had been around. unfortunately, cursed with immortality, they just did it all again. they loved the thrill.

but one day, they fucked up majorly. in a "we're going to kill you" way. they were staring down their enemy, death. so they needed a way to return to the shadows.

eventually, they stumble across 911. how they found him is a little blurry, but they weasled their way into his ultra-powerful company for protection. the cops would never find them if they were hiding behind someone at the top. they'd never think to look. and even if they did, 911's company had enough influence to get them out of it.

they just need to keep 911 loyal to them. call it a contingency plan.
