Clostridioides Difficile, or C. diff, is a highly contagious bacterium that causes diarrhea and colitis. It often infects people who’ve recently taken antibiotics or those with pre-existing diseases such as Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. Antibiotics that kill other bacteria in your gut but don’t kill C. diff allow it to quickly grow out of control. If untreated, C. diff can cause severe and life altering damage, potentially turning deadly.
