Hypnosis Mic- also known by its full legal name of Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle- is Japanese multimedia music franchise focused around... rap and hiphop! Whoa, cool!

The story takes place in modern day Japan, not too long after WW3 happened- women took over the Japanese government and now ask for men to rap battle each other to entertain them and to earn money and fame. ... Yeah, that's the shortest and sweetest way I can sum up the backstory.

There's six main division with three members each- each divison coming from and representing a part of Japan. Buster Bros!!! (of Ikebukuro), Mad Trigger Crew (of Yokohama), Fling Posse (of Shibuya), Matenrou (of Shinjuku), Bad Ass Temple (of Nagoya) and Dotsuitare Hompo (of Osaka) are all participants of the Division Rap Battles. Most recently, the Party of Words (of the central government, Chuohku) are also particpating.

ABRIDGED CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

ICHIRO YAMADA- Leader of Buster Bros!!! as MC B.B.
Known as "MC Big Brother", Ichiro is friendly and helpful to almost everyone, but especially his two younger brothers. He runs an Odd-Jobs shop in Ikebukuro. He has a love for anime and manga. I think he'll literally explode if he isn't shouldering twelve burdens at once.

JIRO YAMADA- 2nd member of Buster Bros!!! as MC M.B.
Known as "MC Middle Brother". Jiro is a high school student that is easy to get along with- though he's quick to anger when someone disrespects his brothers. He frequently beefs with Saburo, usually being teased by the younger for not being as book-smart as him. Jiro's a sweet boy, it's like having a pomeranian as a guard dog. He also likes soccer, that's his one non-brother related interest.

SABURO YAMADA- 3rd member of Buster Bros!!! as MC L.B.
Known as "MC Little Brother". Saburo is a middle school genius, and he has no problem with looking down on people he considers beneath them. He's not the greatest at socializing, but he respects his older brothers greatly (even if he doesn't admit it to Jiro's face often). Has developed a bit of a god-complex, because middle schoolers just be doing that sometimes.

SAMATOKI AOHITSUGI- Leader of Mad Trigger Crew as Mr. Hardcore
Samatoki is the second in command of a yakuza family and knows how to come across as rough and intimidating. Underneath that, he cares very deeply for his family and comrades, though he may have a hard time showing it. Also, he will NOT eat his vegetables.

JYUTO IRUMA- 2nd member of Mad Trigger Crew as 45 Rabbit
A police officer who despises drugs, but is willing to overlook nearly any other crime as long as he gets something out of it. He usually speaks in a calm, almost condescending manner, that makes you want to punch him in the face but you CAN'T because he's goverment property. He canonically owns dozens of pairs of glasses on display in his room.

RIO MASON BUSUJIMA- 3rd member of Mad Trigger Crew as Crazy M
A former soldier in the navy, currently living his life in the woods using his learned survival skills. He's usually level and deadpan, not one to outwardly express his emotions (Although he isn't aware of this, and believes himself to be plenty expressive.) He has an unyielding loyalty to his friends, and would absolutely die for them. He's an extremely talented cook, and loves to share his cooking with others. Unfortunuately the ingredients are whatever he finds in the forest, and can be rather... unconventional.

RAMUDA AMEMURA- Leader of Fling Posse as Easy R
A young man with a passion for fashion, usually speaking in a sickenly sweet and cheery high pitched voice. He loves getting piggy back rides and having fun with his posse. Some say it's all just an act, though, to cover up a dark secret...

GENTARO YUMENO- 2nd member of Fling Posse as Phantom
An author, and a scenario liar. While he seems calm, and like the 'normal one' of the group, he has a habit of spouting nonsense and tricking people (Usually Dice) and following it up with "That was a lie."

DICE ARISUGAWA- 3rd member of Fling Posse as Dead or Alive
An energetic man that loves gambling more than (almost) anything else. Unfortunuately he's very bad at gambling, and finds himself on the streets with nothing to his name more often than not. He trusts his friends with his life, which means he usually ends up falling for their (usually innocent) lies.

JAKURAI JINGUJI- Leader of Matenro as ill-DOC
A doctor who saw endless tragedy during war, Jakurai now seeks to understand and aid humanity. He's motivated by learning more about people and things he finds interesting. The list of things he finds interesting includes but is not limited to: Ramuda, host clubs, meat, men...

HIFUMI IZANAMI- 2nd member of Matenro as Gigolo
Hifumi works as a host in a club called Fragrence, becoming one to get over his fear of women. With his jacket on he's a suave and flirtatious man, and once he takes it off he becomes loud and chipper. But if he comes across a woman without his jacket on, he becomes overwhelmed with fear.

DOPPO KANNONZAKA- 3rd member of Matenro as... Doppo.
Doppo is a japanese salaryman that will overwork himself constantly to please his mean boss, and he has a habit of overapologizing. But he can get eventually pushed to his limits, becoming a rapping berserker that nobody wants to mess with.

KUKO HARAI- Leader of Bad Ass Temple as Evil Monk
The loud, obnoxious, and sometimes vulgar leader of Bad Ass Temple. He's a monk, but you'd never guess that from the language he uses and how he acts. He tends to push people to their absolute limits, but he does this because he wants to bring out the best in them, and he has a good heart.

JYUSHI AIMONO- 2nd member of Bad Ass Temple as 14th Moon
A vocalist in a visual kei band, putting on the grandiose act of dramatically speaking in hard to understand 'chuunibyo' talk. Underneath that act, he's very sensitive, and a bit of a crybaby. He carries around a stuffed pig named Amanda he treasures greatly.

HITOYA AMAGUNI- 3rd member of Bad Ass Temple as Heaven and Hell
A lawyer known for going after whatever brings the most cash- except for bullying. He'll take on any bullying case pro bono. He sometimes acts like a grouchy old man, but like his other division members, he has a great heart. He has a catchphrase of 'There are two things I can't stand' in which both things are typically ridciulous and oddly specific.

SASARA NURUDE- Leader of Dotsuitare Hompo as Tragic Comedy
The silly little comedian that can't go two seconds without cracking a joke, even when he definitely shouldn't be joking around. He's made so many copies of the keys to Rosho's home that they made an official keyholder for Sasara's birthday.

ROSHO TSUTSUJIMORI- 2nd member of Dotsuitare Hompo as Wisdom
A man who became a teacher after developing stage fright while he was in a comedy duo with Sasara. He cares deeply for his students who look up to him, and tells everyone they should follow their dreams. He's very gullible, and has almost been tricked into joining an MLM by Rei.

REI AMAYADO- 3rd member of Dotsuitare Hompo as MC Mastermind
Rei Amayado is a sleazy con man who is up to absolutely no good ever. His habit of scamming people comes second nature to him, even tricking his closest friends over the most mundane of things. Despite his easygoing and whimsy attitude for a man in his mid-forties, he's incredibly smart and holds many dark secrets. His pronoun of choice is oi-chan, which is a cutesy way of saying old man. What's his problem?

OTOME TOHOTEN- Prime Minister of Japan
Otome is the prime minister, and the leader of the party of words. She wanted to create the new era of Japan being led by women after seeing how poorly men ran it. She is calm and collected, and will stop at almost nothing to achieve her goals. Thankfully, she does listen to her son when he tells her to stop making mistakes.

ICHIJIKU KADENOKOJI- Advisor to Otome
Ichijiku is also the Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police Department and Director-General of the Administrative Inspectorate Bureau, but that was too much to fit into her name card. She absolutely hates men due to events in her life, and adores Otome and follows her. She secretly likes cute things and even has a collection of bows, but puts on an intimidating front.

NEMU AOHITSUGI- Vice Chief of the Administrative Inspection Bureau
Nemu is the younger sister of Samatoki, and left him to join the Party of Words while being brainwashed. While she's no longer brainwashed, she continues to be a part of the party to change it from the inside. She's very kind, but has a strong sense of justice and wants to do the right thing.
