On a particularly hot summer day, the community pool saw its traffic at the lowest. Whether this was due to the heat itself, or it being a Wednesday right after lunch when children are warned not to swim, is considered unimportant. Perhaps it was one of those children, angered from being disallowed the relief of the water, that started the entire event. There were numerous reports from youngsters at the scene that could corroborate that, but then the station would have a hard time managing. Regardless, it's thankful that no one was hurt in the fire. It was just so odd that it was somehow only the pool itself. What was even more tragic was that it had to be closed for the potential of an underground gas leak, and much of the neighborhood had to suffer in hot hose water and the inevitable rise of water bills. Many came daily to check when the repairs would be made, only to be turned away in their sweaty agony.
Luckily, there was a little chick who set up shop right in front of the gates, selling lemonade. What a fine young citizen to help their fellow in such troubling times.
