🔒 Option to hide released chickens from family tree

I'd like the option to hide released chickens when viewing the family tree.

Trees can get cluttered the longer the game goes on with more chickens being born.

It would also encourage more people to release their unwanted chickens as they won't constantly be reminded of their actions when they view a tree.

I think a lot of ppl may feel guilty about releasing chickens, even when they want to sometimes. This change could help mitigate that and allow them to engage with the game mechanic.

A toggle on/off to show released chickens would work well I think!

Option to hide released chickens from family tree?

Ooh, I never considered people might feel bad about them, but it should be pretty easy to add a toggle for it. Just need to decide if it will be applied per account (i.e. if you turn it off, you don't see anyone's released chickens) or per owner (individual owners decide if their chickens' released offspring are visible)... I'm currently thinking of the first, because the latter makes it too easy to spoof that a chicken hasn't had any offspring yet...which could have implications if someone pays extra for a chicken they believe doesn't have any offspring. Which seems to be a thing some people do, or at least hinted at.

On the other hand, having it per-account might be too big of an effect for the purpose described above...like if you just don't want to see your own released chickens then hiding everyone doesn't help that, and affects the communicativeness of the site think emoji

Maybe a toggle with 3 options:

  1. Show all released offspring
  2. Hide your own chickens' released offspring from yourself, but keep everyone else's visible
  3. Hide all released offspring

@circlejourney Ough those are some nuances I didn't consider! The options suggested sound good and cover a wide range of needs IMO!

Locking this since I've implemented it - thanks for the suggestion!
