Splicers

Splicers are single-use items that change a chicken's genes. Those genes will also affect the offspring they produce. Splicers will never change the chicken's gene back to the same gene. Additionally, Roll splicers are guaranteed to produce a non-null result (i.e. they cannot remove a chicken's pattern, tail, etc.) They cannot roll recessive genes.

Modulators are a type of splicer which change a chicken's colour gene. Rather than letting you pick any colour, it allows you to shift a chicken's colour gene to a neighbouring one. For example, it can turn a pink gene into white or maroon gene.

Equippables

Accessories and Filters are two types of equippable (multi-use) items in ChickenPet (beta). They can be bought from the Eggschange and equipped through your inventory, as well as through the chicken's profile. Accessories and Filters will move along with the chicken when traded, but will be taken off the chicken before release.

Filters

Filters are equippable (multi-use) items that affect the appearance of a chicken's sprite temporarily, altering its colours and positioning.

The order that filters are applied does matter—they are applied from top to bottom, so, for instance, placing Sepia before Ow My Eyes will first sepia-tone the colours and then saturate them. Multiple filters of the same type can also be stacked (for example, stacking multiple Ow My Eyes filters will saturate the chicken's colours even more).

Filters alter the appearance of the chicken's sprite after accessories are applied. The only exception is Photofilm (colour inversion), which is applied before any accessories, to prevent inversion of the accessories' colours so that they remain the expected colour.

The Forever 2.1 filter is a special filter that makes the chicken appear as a chick. It has other mechanical effects besides altering the chicken's appearance:

The chicken cannot breed. The filter can't be applied to a chicken currently on a nest.
Accessories that chicks can't wear are hidden, and cannot be applied to that chicken (existing accessories will still be on the chicken, but can only be removed).

Accessories

Accessories are equippable items that you can use to dress up your chicken, and currently include hats, glasses, and shoes. Chickens can wear up to 10 accessories at the same time, and they can be worn in any combination. A chicken can wear 10 hats if so desired. The order of accessories can be customised on the chicken's Customise page and will determine what order they are rendered. The layering of accessories can be customised in the chicken's "Customise" page.
