They say chickens can't fly, but I, Lemon, have big dreams and even bigger flaps! (Practice makes perfect, right?)
Lemon wasn't just any chick; she hatched with a glint of the sky in her eyes and a heart full of unwavering optimism. The moment she broke free from her speckled shell on that sun-kissed spring morning, it was clear she was destined for more than just pecking and clucking.
While her siblings chased fleeting bugs, Lemon chased fleeting dreams of soaring. She'd watch the swallows dance, her little head tilted, memorizing every dip and glide.
The coop elders, with their weathered combs and worldly clucks, would share tales of the vast world beyond the farm fence. Lemon absorbed every word, her imagination painting vivid pictures. She learned the secret to finding the plumpest worms (a skill she mastered quickly!) and the art of laying the most perfectly Cream-colored eggs, but her true passion lay skyward. "One day," she'd chirp to her reflection in a dewdrop, "that'll be me up there!"
Her best friend, a fluffy, perpetually bewildered chicken named Blueberry, was her confidant. "Blueberry," she'd whisper, her voice filled with a mix of hope and daring, "I'm going to learn how they do it. How they *fly*!" Blueberry, ever the pragmatist, would often shake his head, muttering about gravity and the natural order of things, but he never truly discouraged her. He'd even offer a sturdy wing for her to practice flapping against, a silent show of support.
Her journey is just beginning... 🍃
