World I

eternally shall thy fortress be mounted by frost
seek the source past the churning storms,
as if time were to freeze, its waters flow free
if all were to freeze, the universe shall spin

Thus is a world embraced by a neverending cold. Once in the past there have been multiple nations, each developing their own way to cope against the cold. However, as the climate gets progressively worse, and resources progressively more scarce, they eventually came to fall apart.

Now a desolate place with few going around, they scavenge off the ruins of the former nations, both competing with and assisting one another. But in the end, it is extremely difficult to even catch sight of another.

This world could be referred to as Boreas

Geography

Due to the cold climate, every body of water present has been frozen, creating vast expanses of land.
Main weather conditions here include snowstorms, blizzards, hail etc. along with special weather conditions such as Rain and Sleet. It is to be noted that weather in Boreas works differently compared to Earth.

Basics: Every substance in Boreas is broken apart by a special property in the air, also called the North Wind. They break into the smallest pieces possible and rise back to the sky.This occurs to normal water and La Source, frozen or not.

The Sun: A celestial sphere that differs from ours. It is observed to be crystaline and produces a light that differs from flames. It produces little warmth but sufficient light. The light it produces causes no damage to any organism.

The Moon: A smaller sphere similar to the Sun. It is weaker than the Sun but proves to be a valuable light source at night. It plays a role the North Wind and well as the spread of La Source.

The North Wind: It is said to be the wind that truly controls the climate. It is always present even if it is very weak. It breaks down the frozen substances and is the main source of all winds. its coming never helps with the cold but without it to break down La Source nothing would be able to continue.

La Source: Otherwise known as The Source or The Spring. This is the main life source for all upon Boreas. It sustains and creats all life, and is the only body of fluid that has not been frozen. La source is said to be a broken piece of The Sun, produced when it first seperated from the moon, and melted upon falling at Boreas. Upon contact with sunlight or moonlight it'll freeze once more, only able to be broken by the North Wind. Upon contact with life, it'll crystalize, breaking on its own some time after. The exact location of La Source is unknown, however, its waters are known to spread through the land like a branch from a tree. One could see it if they were to dig a little.

One could imagine the layers of the ground as this:
-Snow
-Ice + La Source (frozen) [very thick]
-Soil and permafrost

Branch like waters of la source penetrates all layers.

Rain: This is when La Source rains down. This is a very fine time to collect it but it would also crystalize very quickly, trapping everything underneath it once more.

Sleet: This is when La source is already partly crystalized when it rains down. It would be as if daggers were to start raining.

Species

The main species of Boreas are chickens. Though they are born looking exactly as chickens would, they look much like humans.

All chicken eggs are born directly from the branches of La Source, like a fruit forming at the tip of a branch. They would draw upon La Source as eggs and hatch as chicks the day they're ready. At any time they wish, they could undergo a "metamorphosis", where they once again would attempt to resonate with La Source, if succeeded, they would be able to change their form into something human-like, which in their case would be more convenient for survival.

Post-metamorphosis chickens are simpler than humans in body structure and more well built for their environment, thus, there isn't a huge gap between the energy need despite the size difference. These chickens produce no waste, rather, everything is burnt for either warmth or energy.

There also is no physical difference between male and female chickens other than their hormones. It is said that when one dies its energy goes back to La Source, and when the elements of all the energy gathered is balanced new chicks are produced.

The Metamorphosis:Nobody can see the true process, one is simply covered by the cystals of La Source as their body is reformed. Their feathers are in fact woven into clothes during the process as well.
Food: Mainly seed. The seed there is more like a small corn in size. Grows upon soil and few other special materials.
