Swirl is hunched by the balloon arch, adjusting a sagging string with intense focus.
SWIRL: "These balloons keep drifting out of order. First it’s the colors, then the spacing. Can’t have a lopsided arch at a party. People notice."
You’re not sure anyone would notice. But Swirl seems convinced.
You hold a knot while Swirl ties it tighter, then step back as they carefully realign a yellow balloon.
SWIRL: "There. That’s better. You’ve got a good eye for party symmetry."
You spot your friend Topper across the room and leave Swirl to the balloons.
SWIRL: "Oh, I volunteered. Someone’s gotta keep things festive, right?"
They pause, squinting at the arch.
SWIRL: "Besides, it’s calming. Balloons don’t ask questions. They just float."
You spot Topper across the party, waving you over and decide to make a quick exit.
