SUCCESS!!!! - Mega Orphan Project

Update: Project progress tracked at the bottom!!!

I'll be now starting project Mega Orphan where I try to breed a chicken that has no living relatives. This means I must release the chicken's parents AND grandparents.

I'll be using some of my own chickens' offspring for this project because I know some people don't like their chickens released, but I still need at least some genetic variety or else it'll be pretty hard to get a non-hideous chicken out of the ones currently in my coop πŸ˜” a good chunk are related to each other rip

If you have any chickens you don't mind being released after I've bred them for this project, I'll buy them for 60 eggs! 🫑

AWESOME!! Any guidelines? Color/gene range, even a specific pair, or just go wild with anything? Just wanted to check since their genes will be passed on further with the project

@brainfriends no guidelines don't worry!!! surprise emoji I've got chickens in pretty much every color so I'll just breed them a partner that'll give a decent range assuming the chicks in the nest rn turn out not to be >:D

Also i'm not sure yet πŸ‘€ i'm hoping like 8 max but it might a little more since some of the sacrifices have offspring and i need to breed them until only the other sacrifices show up in the family tree :D I'll breed more pairs just in case so I don't end up realizing i need a whole separate set when i'm 2 gens in 😭

It occurred to me that if you wanted a chicken with absolutely 0 living relatives of any sort you can probably fish up those floundering gen 1s from the pullet pool and then release them afterwards... but oh dear cry emoji
